Un parque solar de 100 MW requiere entre 400 y 600+ camiones completos (FTL) divididos en pilotes H, tubos de torsion, modulos bifaciales e inversores/BESS.
Our 5 Proprietary Solar Freight Standard Operating Procedures
Most freight brokers treat solar farms like retail warehouse freight and hide behind generic checklists. Every load dispatched by Trucking.Solar is governed by five written field SOPs enforced on every Rate Confirmation.
SOP-001: Bifacial & Thin-Film Solar Module Transport, Forklift Extraction & Laydown Storage
1. Air-Ride Suspension (<2.0G) & Swing-Door / Conestoga Mandate: All photovoltaic modules (LONGi, Trina, Jinko, JA Solar, Canadian Solar, First Solar) move exclusively on 53-foot Air-Ride Conestogas or 53-foot Air-Ride Swing-Door Dry Vans (>=101" clear door width). Spring-ride trailers and roll-up rear doors are prohibited.
2. Stacking, Spacing & Non-Metallic Strapping: Pallets never exceed 1+1 vertical stacking, maintain a 2-inch clearance from trailer walls, sit on anti-slip rubber friction mats, and are secured with rigid corner V-boards and non-metallic ratchet straps tensioned to <=500 daN.
3. 60-Inch Padded Forks & Single-Layer Field Staging: Site telehandlers must use 48-to-60-inch padded fork blades (extending at least 75%-100% through the pallet stringers) and a >=48-inch backrest. Travel speed with raised glass is capped at 3 mph (5 km/h). Pallets are staged in a single layer only on compacted level ground (<2 deg slope) with 20 inches (500 mm) of aisle clearance.
SOP-002: Galvanized Tracker Torque Tube & Foundation H-Pile Flatbed Securement
1. 4"x4" Hardwood Dunnage (3.5" Telehandler Fork Gap): Every bundle tier of Nextracker, Array Technologies, or GameChange torque tubes and driven W6 steel H-piles is separated by 4"x4" hardwood dunnage spaced every 8 to 10 feet so site telehandlers can extract bundles cleanly without metal-on-metal scraping.
2. Zero Bare Steel Chains on Hot-Dip Galvanized Zinc (ASTM A123): Loads are secured exclusively with 4-inch nylon web straps and polymer edge protectors. Strap tension on hollow thin-wall torque tubes is capped at <3,500 lbs over dunnage points to prevent tube ovalization. Short foundation H-piles (<16 ft) are belly-wrapped to prevent forward shift under braking.
SOP-003: Ocean Container Port Pull, FTZ Buffer Storage & Cross-Dock Transloading
1. Pre-LFD Terminal Pull: Ocean containers at Port of Houston, LA/Long Beach, Savannah, and Norfolk are pulled to bonded/FTZ yards at least 48 hours before Last Free Day (LFD) so shippers pay zero port demurrage or steamship per-diem.
2. Dock-to-Conestoga Conversion: Because rural solar laydown yards lack 48-inch raised concrete loading docks to strip ocean containers from the rear doors, our cross-dock teams extract module pallets using 60-inch padded forks, verify UFLPA serial barcodes, and side-load 53-foot Air-Ride Conestogas for ground-level telehandler offloading at the project site.
SOP-004: Rural Laydown Yard GPS Routing, >=20mm Mud Hold & 45-Minute Telehandler Slotting
1. Pre-Dispatch Weather Gate (>=20 mm Rain / >=25 mph Wind): Four hours before gate arrival, Dispatch checks site precipitation and wind telemetry. If 24-hour rain hits >=20 mm (softening uncompacted caliche or black gumbo clay roads) or wind gusts reach >=25 mph (module sail hazard), trucks hold on paved highway staging pads at $0 gate detention.
2. County Road Use Agreement (RUA) & GPS Gate Pin: Drivers never use commercial GPS on the final 5 miles. Every Rate Confirmation specifies the approved County RUA haul route, the exact stabilized construction gate latitude/longitude pin, mandatory PPE (hard hat, Class 2 vest, steel-toe boots, long pants), and a reserved 45-minute telehandler window (2 hours free time).
SOP-005: 3-Axle/4-Axle RGN Lowboy (UN 3536 BESS & MPT) & OS&D Exception Protocol
1. UN 3536 Class 9 BESS & Transformer Rigging Sync: Enclosures between 65,000 and 150,000+ lbs move on 3-axle/4-axle RGN lowboys or multi-axle perimeter trailers operated by Hazmat-endorsed carriers (UN 3536 Class 9 placards, ERG Guide 147, SOC <=30% certificate, state superload permits, and pilot cars) synchronized to the hour with the jobsite mobile crane.
2. In-Situ OS&D Photo & BOL Protocol: If a seal break, red ShockWatch/TiltWatch tube, or transit damage is found at arrival, the pallet is photographed in place on the trailer deck before forks touch it (4 photos: unit/plate, ShockWatch/damage, OEM serial tag, and strap/dunnage layout), noted explicitly on the BOL with both driver and superintendent signatures, and transmitted to dispatch@trucking.solar before the truck leaves the gate.
